ABSTRACT

The number of research articles published on COVID-19 has dramatically increased since the outbreak of the pandemic in November 2019. This absurd rate of productivity in research articles leads to information overload. It has increasingly become urgent for researchers and medical associations to stay up to date on the latest COVID-19 studies. To address information overload in COVID-19 scientific literature, the study presents a novel hybrid model named CovSumm, an unsupervised graph-based hybrid approach for single-document summarization, that is evaluated on the CORD-19 dataset. We have tested the proposed methodology on the scientific papers in the database dated from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021, consisting of 840 documents in total. The proposed text summarization is a hybrid of two distinctive extractive approaches (1) GenCompareSum (transformer-based approach) and (2) TextRank (graph-based approach). The sum of scores generated by both methods is used to rank the sentences for generating the summary. On the CORD-19, the recall-oriented understudy for gisting evaluation (ROUGE) score metric is used to compare the performance of the CovSumm model with various state-of-the-art techniques. The proposed method achieved the highest scores of ROUGE-1: 40.14%, ROUGE-2: 13.25%, and ROUGE-L: 36.32%. The proposed hybrid approach shows improved performance on the CORD-19 dataset when compared to existing unsupervised text summarization methods.

ABSTRACT

To combat COVID-19, scientists must digest the vast amount of relevant biomedical knowledge in the literature to understand disease mechanisms and related biological functions. Nearly 3,000 scientific papers are published on PubMed every day. This knowledge bottleneck has resulted in severe delays in developing COVID-19 vaccines and drugs. Our research produces a hierarchy of knowledge concepts related to COVID-19, designed to assist scientists in answering questions and generating summaries. It aims to discover scientific and comprehensive knowledge to extract fine-grained multimedia elements (i.e., physical and visual structures, relational events and events, and chemical knowledge). Our project is toward one step in natural language understanding: detailed contextual sentences, subgraphs, and knowledge subgraphs are the first time to be automatically generated, and relations and coreferences of COVID-19 mentions will be sketched. Extensive results show that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods. In addition, we have published the generated knowledge graph on Google Drive1 and released the source in the Github2. © 2022 ACM.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 Open Research Dataset (CORD-19) is a growing resource of scientific papers on COVID-19 and related historical coronavirus research. CORD-19 is designed to facilitate the development of text mining and information retrieval systems over its rich collection of metadata and structured full text papers. Since its release, CORD-19 has been downloaded over 200K times and has served as the basis of many COVID-19 text mining and discovery systems. In this article, we describe the mechanics of dataset construction, highlighting challenges and key design decisions, provide an overview of how CORD-19 has been used, and describe several shared tasks built around the dataset. We hope this resource will continue to bring together the computing community, biomedical experts, and policy makers in the search for effective treatments and management policies for COVID-19. © ACL 2020.All right reserved.

ABSTRACT

IntroductionMulti-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) is a useful tool in complex decision-making situations and has been used in medical fields to evaluate treatment options and drug selection. We aimed to provide valuable insights on the use of MCDA in health care through examining the research focus of existing studies, major fields, major applications, most productive authors and countries, and most common journals in the domain using a scientometric and bibliometric analysis.MethodsPublications related to MCDA in health care were identified by searching the Web of Science Core Collection on 14 July 2021. Three bibliometric software programs (VOSviewer, Bibliometrix, and CiteSpace) were used to conduct the analysis.ResultsA total of 410 publications were identified from 196 academic journals (average yearly growth rate of 32% from 1999 to 2021), with 23,637 co-cited references by 871 institutions from 70 countries or regions. The USA was the most productive country (n=80), while the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (n=16), Université de Montréal (n= 13), and Syreon Research Institute (n=12) were the most productive institutions. The biggest nodes in every cluster of author networks were Aos Alaa Zaidan, Mireille Goetghebeur, and Zoltan Kalo. The top journals in terms of number of articles (n=17) and citations (n=1,673) were Value in Health and the Journal of Medical Systems, respectively. The research hotspots mainly included the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), decision-making, health technology assessment, and healthcare waste management. In the recent literature there was more emphasis on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarities to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Big data, telemedicine, TOPSIS, and the fuzzy AHP, which are well-developed and important themes, may be the trends in future research.ConclusionsThis study provides a holistic picture of the MCDA-related literature published in health care. MCDA has a broad application in different topic areas and would be helpful for practitioners, researchers, and decision makers working in health care when faced with complex decisions. It can be argued that the door is still open for improving the role of MCDA in health care, both in its technologies and its application.

ABSTRACT

IntroductionConstantly rising costs of pharmaceuticals and biologics spurred a debate in recent years leading to increasingly persistent public calls to overhaul the existing system of pricing and distributing health technologies. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the controversies of the current model of access to health commodities in all evidence when the existing discrepancy between the global supply and the global demand in health technology can be viewed as an illustration of a conflict between the neoliberal free market ideal of health innovation genesis and ownership and the original democratic principles of what would now be called sustainable human development.MethodsPresented here is an integrative literature review of over 265 publications in peer-reviewed journals on Pubmed and Web of Science, academic and "grey” literature, mainly publicism, published in English. We reviewed and analyzed included literature for the purposes of identifying leading ideas with regards to ethical frameworks for evaluating or referencing value for pricing health commodities.ResultsSeven drug pricing models were analyzed in terms of them satisfying the three most common criteria of price adequacy – its fairness (viewed from the point of view of main schools of ethical thought), accountability-for-reasonableness (including transparency of decisions, relevance, existing mechanisms of revisions and governance to ensure compliance), and price functionality. One of the central ideas under controversy is value, its relative character for different contexts due to the high weight of the willingness-to-pay in the value-based health technology assessment (HTA) decisions and the relative value of money, and the attempts to quantify value in a universal way for institutions, patients, and originators.ConclusionsWhile the review scored the pricing models on their "public fairness” with volume-based rather than value-based pricing models leading the rating, the main conclusion of the review is that the main meaningful divide is between value creation and value extraction when pricing health innovation.

ABSTRACT

IntroductionA patient/person-reported outcome measure (PROM) is a questionnaire that measures patient's health self-assessment (PROs), such as pain/wellbeing. HTx is a Horizon 2020 project supported by the European Union lasting for 5 years from January 2019. The main aim of HTx is to create a framework for the Next Generation Health Technology Assessment (HTA) to support patient-centred, societally oriented, real-time decision-making on access to and reimbursement for health technologies (HTs) throughout Europe. Individual values, needs, and preferences should be taken into account when appraising HTs and in clinical decision-making. Better guidance is needed about how to develop and select generic and/or more specific outcome measures that are relevant to patients and fit-for-purpose. Our goal is to provide that guidance via the PROM toolbox and enable users to select PROMs by using this. The HTx project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement N° 825162.MethodsA framework for the assessment of PROMs was discussed with experts, tested for a subset of PROMs (Linnean menu) and resulted in the PROM-cycle. Multiple literature studies were performed on PROMs, their properties, and characteristics. The general population was studied as well as cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, myelodysplastic syndrome, and (long-lasting) COVID-19. This resulted in an Excel database (PROM-overview) made available via a user-friendly web-application helping users to select PROMs: the PROM select app via https://www.prom-select.eu/proms.ResultsMultiple tools were developed and are available in the PROM toolbox starting with the PROM-guide, Literature review on the use of PROMs, PROM-cycle accompanied by the Linnean menu. A huge number of papers have been published about COVID-19. So much it's overwhelming. Many papers appear on preprint servers such as arXiv before publication. Researchers and clinicians can get ahead of the curve by making use of these preprint papers, but how to tell what is worth reading? Could there be an automated recommendation mechanism? In this paper we address the question by experimenting with SPECTER document-level vector embedding which establishes the representations by incorporating state-of-the-art Transformer models, such as SciBERT, a BERT variant tailored to scientific text. ABSTRACT

In this paper we investigate how scientific and medical papers about Covid-19 can be effectively mined. For this purpose we use the CORD19 dataset which is a huge collection of all papers published about and around the SARS-CoV2 virus and the pandemic it caused. We discuss how classical text mining algorithms like Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) or its modern version Latent Drichlet Allocation (LDA) can be used for this purpose and also touch more modern variant of these algorithms like word2vec which came with deep learning wave and show their advantages and disadvantages each. We finish the paper with showing some topic examples from the corpus and answer questions such as which topics are the most prominent for the corpus or how many percentage of the corpus is dedicated to them. ABSTRACT

Even though the presence of ammunition-derived metallic lead fragments in donated firearms-hunted meat has been recognized for more than a decade, the vast majority of donated hunted meat is not inspected to discard meat containing lead fragments.1 An underlying lack of food safety standards for adulterated donated food increases risks to lowincome recipients, who are already disproportionately affected by elevated blood lead levels (BLLs).2 Primary prevention is needed for this overlooked source of lead exposure. LOW-LEVEL LEAD Primary prevention is recognized as the most effective way to address the epidemic of lead poisoning in the United States.3 The current blood lead reference level recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is 3.5 micrograms per deciliter (mg/dL). A strong body of scientific research demonstrates that leadbased ammunition frequently contaminates hunted meat and increases BLLs of humans and animals who consume it.1,7-9 Lead-contaminated hunted meat has been identified as the most poorly acknowledged and addressed example of food lead contamination, and scientists have called for this source of lead exposure to be acknowledged and addressed with health-protective measures.8,9 A 2013 consensus statement of experts in human, environmental, and wildlife toxicology supports reducing and eventually eliminating the introduction of lead into the environment from lead-based ammunition, emphasizing that shooting lead ammunition into the environment poses significant risks of lead exposure to humans and wildlife.10 In 2016, Arnemo et al. found that more than 99% of 570 scientific articles about environmental and health consequences of lead in ammunition raised concerns about lead toxicity.7 The authors highlighted that nonlead ammunition is as effective as lead-based ammunition and is comparably priced. Despite the well-established scientific basis for regulation of lead ammunition for hunting, the topic has been politicized by misinformation campaigns portraying concerns about ingesting lead ammunition as a product of antihunting agendas.11 Lead Contamination in Donated Hunted Meat Donated hunted meat is a vital source of protein distributed by food banks at a time when food bank use remains far above pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels.12 Published evidence of leadcontaminated meat in food banks has existed for more than a decade (Figure A, available as a supplement to the online version of this article at https://www.ajph.org).13 Investigations in multiple states have confirmed the presence of lead in donated meat.

AMICA is an argument mining-based search engine, specifically designed for the analysis of scientific literature related to COVID-19. AMICA retrieves scientific papers based on matching keywords and ranks the results based on the papers' argumentative content. An experimental evaluation conducted on a case study in collaboration with the Italian National Institute of Health shows that the AMICA ranking agrees with expert opinion, as well as, importantly, with the impartial quality criteria indicated by Cochrane Systematic Reviews. © 2022 International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence. ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to analyse the current body of knowledge on the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and its implications for global supply chains and their management. This research seeks to understand how the COVID-19 event leads to impacts, lessons, and proposed solutions for the operations of global supply chains. This study is based on a structured review of publications released on or before 31 December 2020. It includes established academic publications but also those emerging primarily from academic institutions in trade magazines and on the wider internet. Specifically, four research questions are addressed: How and where are disruptions caused by COVID-19 understood to impact global supply chains? How does the literature portray supply chain lessons from the COVID-19-related disruptions? How does the literature portray the suggested resilience-driven solutions for the future operation of global supply chains? Finally, how are digital technologies proposed as part of resilience-driven solutions to the future operation of global supply chains? Concerning the findings, the study contributes by developing a new theoretical understanding of the ongoing collective supply chain lessons of the COVID-19 disruption. Six supply chain vulnerabilities, six solutions or resilience capabilities and seven technology clusters deemed particularly useful in mitigating future pandemic disruptions are identified. In addition, the interrelationships between the different elements are explored and understood as an ongoing learning process comprising a process of evoking vulnerabilities, a process of reacting and devising change and a process of implementing change. Based on these findings, a set of managerial implications and avenues for future research are proposed.

ABSTRACT

The study aims to provide a series of information that will contribute to the understanding of the concept of healthcare marketing and other associated concepts from the perspective of how research in the field has evolved. We aim to quantify the scientific interest in the field of healthcare marketing and to extract aspects that will contribute to a better understanding of the trends that characterize the specific vision of this topic. The research involves a bibliometric analysis, and the conduct of the study is based on the investigation of the academic literature from the Scopus and PubMed databases based on the PRISMA methodology. The study investigates 1077 papers published between 2000 and 2022. According to our study, the most productive countries in the field of healthcare marketing academic publications are the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. As research themes, the study revealed that customer/patient satisfaction, medical tourism, social marketing, and hospital-related marketing topics are highlighted based on cluster analysis of authors keywords. We also discuss the significant lack of research to clarify the use of the concepts such as patient/client/customer in healthcare marketing and to understand the role of prevention services as essential in sustainable healthcare.

ABSTRACT

Many cities of the world suffer from air pollution because of poor planning and design and heavy traffic in rapidly expanding urban environments. These conditions are exacerbated due to the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. While there have been studies linking the built environment and air pollution with health, they have ignored the aggravating role of UHI. The past urban planning literature in this field has also ignored the science of materials, vehicles and air pollution, and technological solutions for reducing cumulative health impacts of air pollution and UHI. Air Pollution, built environment and human health are complex discussion factors that involve several different fields. The built environment is linked with human health through opportunities of physical activity and air quality. Recent planning literature focuses on creating compact and walkable urban areas dotted with green infrastructure to promote physical activity and to reduce vehicle emission-related air pollution. Reduced car use leading to reduced air pollution and UHI is implied in the literature. The literature from technology fields speaks to the issue of air pollution directly. Zero emission cars, green infrastructure and building materials that absorb air pollutants and reduce UHI fall within this category. This paper identifies main themes in the two streams of urban air pollution and UHI that impact human health and presents a systematic review of the academic papers, policy documents, reports and features in print media published in the last 10–20 years.

ABSTRACT

Digital transformation refers to highly thought-out social, manufacturing, and organizational transitions driven by digital revolutions and emerging technologies. On the other hand, energy is a critical pillar of the economic growth of the country. Meanwhile, global interest in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investment is growing. The conventional investment paradigm is being phased out in favor of investments that prioritize environmental, social, and corporate responsibility. The energy sector is one of the most significantly affected. Presently, the field of digital transformation is limited in its analysis about the sustainability factors and is still controversial, especially in the energy business. This paper identifies an in-corporation factor in Industry 4.0, taking into account the effect on ESG. The research papers and the World Economic Forum reports were investigated and identified the correlation factor using machine learning to analyze their contents. We spotlighted the documents relevant to the energy industry and sustainable development. To quantify the model, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) is proposed to generate a valid model, followed by path analysis with latent variables to evaluate the structural equation modeling (SEM). The result provides the conceptual model with impact factors and their correlations. The goodness of fit value is acceptable for the agreed-upon condition, as well as a descriptive that incorporates Industry 4.0 and ESG in terms of business, industry, and ESG in relation to the energy sector’s key issues.

A total of fourteen papers (ten research papers and four review papers) in various fields of horticulture are presented in this Special Issue, including such topics as the identification and accumulation of the bioactive compounds in various plant species;the effects of abiotic stresses on bioactive compound composition and content;and exploration of the best methods for bioactive compound extraction. [1], the authors investigated the nutritional profile and the antioxidant, antiproliferative, and antibacterial activities of five species of Brassica (cauliflower, broccoli, red cabbage, white cabbage, and Chinese cabbage);they found that these Brassica vegetables are excellent sources of polyphenols that showed moderate antiproliferative and antibacterial potential. [2], the effect of the bulk density and water-holding capacity of lignite substrate in comparison to mineral wool and the EC of nutrient solution on the plant morphological parameters, yield, and fruit quality of greenhouse cucumber were investigated, and the results suggest that both the substrate density and water-holding capacity positively affected the morphological features of the plants. In the fourth paper, reported by Karim and Yusof [4], it was found that the impregnation of spinach leaves with salicylic acid, γ-aminobutyric acid, and sucrose effectively improved the quality and storage ability by reducing chilling injury through improvement of the proline content.

ABSTRACT

The Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm is growing, affecting human life and aiming to solve problems in the real world, i.e., in education, healthcare, smart homes, intelligent transportation, and other areas. However, it is a fact that the development of IoT systems is complicated compared to that of traditional software systems, especially in relation to requirements engineering (RE). The RE of IoT systems is not implemented frequently due to their broad aspects, such as the variety of user needs, making these systems difficult to construct. In this sense, the use of loT-based systems has not been well explored by the research community in order to provide well-planned proposals to improve the quality of their performance. In this work, we present a comprehensive and inclusive review of the RE of loT-based systems. To accomplish this, a systematic mapping study (SMS) is presented to evaluate the use of parameters based on the existing literature. SMS is a methodology used for research in the medical field and has recently been implemented in software engineering (SE) to sort and organize research publications to gain knowledge on progress and identify research gaps. In this article, we aim to classify the existing research publications in the current scientific literature regarding RE proposals for IoT software systems and review their implications for future research. This will make it possible to establish lines of research in order to improve the quality of the development of future IoT systems.

Debido a la pandemia por el Covid-19, el mundo ha sufrido cambios, en el sector educativo, ha tenido que adaptarse a una nueva coyuntura (la no presencialidad de su comunidad) en la que se han elaborado y potenciado estrategias para poder alcanzar los logros trazados por cada una de las instituciones. Es en este contexto, la educación remota se ha presentado como una solución. El objetivo fue sistematizar las experiencias y evidencias sobre las prácticas de la educación remota universitaria en Latinoamérica durante la pandemia por Covid-19. Se analizaron 13 artículos científicos en español, portugués e inglés de: Scopus, Ebsco, Proquest, Scielo y Dialnet. La depuración de estos fue utilizando criterios de inclusión y exclusión, con artículos publicados entre el 2020 y 2021. Entre las conclusiones, se obtuvo que las experiencias en Latinoamérica han estado condicionadas a las características logísticas y de capacitación por parte de la comunidad educativa.Alternate :Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the world has undergone changes, and the education sector has had to adapt to a new situation (the non-presence of its community) in which strategies have been developed and strengthened in order to achieve the goals set by each of the institutions. It is in this context that remote education has been presented as a solution. The objective was to systematize the experiences and evidence on the practices of remote university education in Latin America during the Covid-19 pandemic. Thirteen scientific articles in Spanish, Portuguese and English were analyzed from: Scopus, Ebsco, Proquest, Scielo and Dialnet. These were filtered using inclusion and exclusion criteria, with articles published between 2020 and 2021. Among the conclusions, it was found that the experiences in Latin America have been conditioned to the logistic and training characteristics of the educational community.

Coupled with policy advantages from Chinese government, its development is crucial to the development of regional economy in the entire province;therefore, this research paper studied its advantages, disadvantages, opportunities, and threats for developing aviation economy and analyzed its possibility for developing a well-established aviation industry. Secondly, the current condition of airport logistics in Henan province was analyzed, especially the current situation and noticeable problems. Thirdly, the gray analysis was carried out to analyze the relationship between aviation industry and economy development in Henan. Finally, the according development strategy and suggestions for developing aviation economy were put forward, such as innovating industrial development models, exploring new modes of financing, establishing a sound transportation system and airport supporting facilities, and improving the talent introduction program in airport industry. Overall, this paper researched the aviation economy in Henan province from the perspective of regional economy development, analyzed the current issues occurred in the aviation economy development process, and offered suggestions accordingly.
